MAY is a good looking, unique voice – sometimes close to the edge.

Political, discriminating lyrics. Definitely no girlie chatter. Emotional borderline. Indietronic from the heart of Europe. Analog synths, attitude guitars and a fueling rhythm section. Underworld meets Sonic Youth. MAY is Maewa Oria (voc), Christoph Mause (git, keys, programming) and Carsten Schmidt (bass, keys, programming).

MAY was founded in September 2013 in the lovely city of Bochum – right in the middle of the Ruhrgebiet (…still the industrial heart of Germany and one of the most exciting melting pots in Europe) by actress and singer Maewa and guitarist and song writer Christoph Mause.

When the band relocated to Düsseldorf, recording studio owner and producer Carsten Schmidt joined the band and they started working in Carsten’s Ezy Sound Studios near Düsseldorf where MAY recorded their first EP “Poetry For Braindead” containing their first 3 songs and remixes by Markus Giltjes aka Bobok and my.cosmo. MAY’s first Single “Smear” entered the German University Airplay Charts as well as the local Ruhrcharts.

The band played several promising live shows in the Rhein-/Ruhr-area in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
